Waldo's Witness, a play about the poet
Waldo Williams (1904–71),
performed by Coracle Theatre Company,
at The Lairage, Manorowen, Fishguard,
30 July to 9 August 1986.

‘ ... a movingly accurate representation of Waldo’s life and ideas ...’
Gwynfor Evans in the Western Mail, 6 August 1986.

‘It came as a surprise to see a play about a Welsh poet presented in English during Eisteddfod week. Is it ever possible to translate poetry? .... In Waldo’s Witness the cynghanedd may be totally lost ... but the fundamental inspiration remains and illuminates the play in a totally natural way. Waldo himself is present throughout the play as one of the cloud of witnesses .... this was a production I found very moving.’ – Phil Williams, Welsh Nation, September 1986.
